OK – I promise that this will be my last post with the My Crush book….  this week….  LOL!!!  Seriously – it is so much fun.  If you are someone who finds that they don’t have time for 12×12 scrapbooking, then you just might want to try it out for yourself!!!  We are using the new My Crush Bluebird Book (Z1856 $12.95) from Close To My Heart.

This layout shows pictures from Kendall’s dance recital in June – there is a 4×4 flip flap in the lower right where she put family shots.  And for the fun memorabilia, we used a recital ticket stub and the notes that her grandparents and brother gave to her with flowers.  Just so you know, her parents gave her flowers, too – but the wand that came in our ballerina bouquet was just too much fun for her to put in the book.  She’d rather have it out to use!  Crazy dancing freak child.  Love her!  Accessories:  Trinkets Wooden Shapes (Z1844 $6.95), Clear Sparkles (Z1752 $2.95), Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape (Z1817 $4.95), Small Assorment Flip Flaps (Z1747 $3.95), and stickers from the coordinating Assortments (Z1888, Z1889 $4.95).

This next layout is from Kendall’s Gymnastics Team Banquet, also in June.  She used another 4×4 flip flap on the bottom right so that she could include pictures of all her favorite coaches.  In addition to the accessories previously listed, we also used Clear Sparkle Flourishes – Small (Z1812 $4.95), Glamour Glitter Alphabet (Z1775 $5.95), and Houndstooth Alphabet – Irrestible Chipboard inked in Ruby (Z1779 $4.95).

Hope you all are having a FABULOUS week!!!  I wanted to share two one page layouts from Kendall’s My Crush book – it is WAY FUN to work on it with her!  🙂  And the one page layout is quick and easy!

The first layout is from a school project she did last spring.  We only had two pictures, but she was able to include the tickets that her classmates used to purchase her product – what a great momento!   Additional accessories we used to coordinate were:  Lagoon Houndstooth Washi Tape (Z1850 $4.95), Trinkets Wooden Shapes (Z1844 $6.95), Clear Sparkles (Z1752 $2.95), and the mustache stamp from Perfect Fit-Dad stamp set (C1542 $13.95).  I love this page because I totally would not do a two page layout with these photos!

The next page is from her Cecchetti ballet exam – again, not something I’m sure I would scrapbook on its own with only two pictures.  Kendall was even able to include her official ballet card saying that she passed her exam!  We slid it right into one of the pockets that came in the My Crush Assortments (Z1888 or Z1889 $4.95).  If she ever needs it, she knows right were it is and can easily access it.  PERFECTO!!!!  Accessories used:  My Crush Favorites Assortment (Z1889 $4.95), Keyboard Kraft Alphabet (Z1825 $4.95), Trinkets Wooden Shapes (Z1844 $6.95), Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape (Z1817 $4.95), and Sparkles Clear Flourishes-Small (Z1812 $4.95).

As promised, today I am going to share some photos with you of my daughter’s (Kendall, age 10) My Crush book.  As we have been workshing on her book, I learned a few things that may be helpful to you if you decide to Crush It with a little person in your life.

1.  You don’t have to start at the beginning of the book.  GASP!!!  Pick any page that coordinates with your photos and go to work!  In other words, kids do not care about putting things chronologically in their book.

2.  Flip flaps are a MUST HAVE item for these books.  I highly suggest both the 4×6 Protectors (Z4114 $3.95) and the Small Assortment (Z1747 $3.95).  Because the pages are only about 6.5 inches x 10 inches, flip flaps make it easy to include a variety of photos or memorabilia.

3.  In addition to the two My Crush Assortments that coordinate with each book, my favorite embellishments are letter stickers, washi tape, and sparkles.  Keep it simple so you don’t overwhelm your child with choices.

4.  Start Crushin’ with an event that will take up only 1 or 2 pages.  Our first project had way too many photos and keepsakes – it took us an hour just to scope it all out.

So – here are some pix of our first time CRUSHIN’ IT using the My Crush Bluebird Book (Z1856 $12.95) and Assortments (Z1888 and Z1889, both $4.95)!!

I printed the word Baseball from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge for the title.  Additional embellishments used were Sparkles Clear Flourishes – Small (Z1812 $4.95), Clear Sparkles (Z1752 $2.95) and Slate Polka-Dot Washi Tape (Z1817 $4.95).

Here’s a view of the 4×6 flip flap open – you can use 3 4×6 photos in one spot!  LOVE THESE!!!!  You get 15 flaps in one package, so they are soooo economical.  We also included the game ticket and used a small 2×2 flip flap to hold some of the grass that she pulled up from the field while we were on it.  Weird, I know – but she wanted it in there!

Layout 2 – here Kendall wanted to include her spoon from the Dippin’ Dots she ate and the peanut bag from her second favorite snack at the game.  I love the little pockets that come in the the assortments!  We used the Keyboard Kraft Alphabet (Z1825 $4.95) in addition to the assortment letter stickers for the title.

We used another 4×6 flip flap and a 4×4 flip flap on these pages.  Tons of photos – little space!  🙂
